How to store abemaciclib blister packaging
Can abemaciclib tablets be removed from the original blister packaging to a "pill box"?
Removing tablets from the original blister back they are sold in is NOT recommended.2
The tablets may be harmful to family members if accidentally ingested. The tablets are sold in child-resistant packaging designed and tested to keep them safe and stable until they are used or expired.2
Impact of light and oxygen
Abemaciclib tablets are not impacted by light or oxygen exposure over a short period (e.g. 30 days). However, keeping the tablets in their original blister packaging is recommended until the product is either used or expired. Doing so will protect the tablets and keep them stable until they expire.2
Fridge storage
Abemaciclib tablets do not require any special storage conditions if stored in the original blister packaging as marketed by Lilly.1
Abemaciclib tablets that were stored from 1°C to 30 °C in their original packaging are acceptable to use until the tablets expire. Do not store outside the 1°C to 30 °C temperature range.2
Accidental storage below 1°C or above 30°C
Lilly can do a product quality assessment if the medicine has been accidentally stored outside the recommended storage and handling conditions.
Please call Lilly if abemaciclib tablets were exposed to temperatures below 1°C or above 30°C for any period. Lilly can perform a quality evaluation to determine if the tablets are still acceptable to use.2
