Does Taltz® (ixekizumab) affect fertility?
The effect of ixekizumab on human fertility has not been evaluated. Animal studies do not indicate direct or indirect harmful effects with respect to fertility.
What are the data on ixekizumab and fertility?
Nonclinical data from reproductive and developmental toxicity studies performed with ixekizumab on cynomolgus monkeys revealed no special hazards for humans.1
No effects were observed in sexually mature cynomolgus monkeys that received ixekizumab for 13 weeks at a weekly subcutaneous dose of 50 mg/kg (at least 19 times the 160-mg starting dose of ixekizumab) regarding
- reproductive organs
- menstrual cycles, or
- sperm (including sperm count and morphology).1
The monkeys were not mated to evaluate fertility and pregnancy outcomes.2
